To honor those who passed away, Ho Chi Minh City chose the site at 1 Ly Thai To, with three frontages on Ly Thai To – Hung Vuong – Tran Binh Trong streets, opposite the Cong Hoa six-way intersection (Vuon Lai Ward), to build a park and memorial. At its center is a 1,800 m² circular square inspired by a water drop falling to the ground, a reminder of a painful past.

The square holds the Water Drop monument, 6 m high and 13 m around, made of mirror-polished stainless steel. Inside the drop is a heart, a symbol of gratitude and compassion.

Around the monument are 9 steps and 360 water candles. At night, the 360 candles together with nearly 1,000 points of light on the square form a “forest of candlelight” in memory of those who died from Covid-19.
